All School Reunion Committee Meeting Minutes

July 29, 2006

In attendance: Don Johnston, Joanne Riedlinger, Martin Riedlinger, Myrtle Anderson, Marilyn McDougall and Heather McDougall

a. Comment 1: Should we be having the reunions every two years?

b. Comment 2: Asked everyone present with computer and web browsing ability to look at the website:

http://www.troyallschoolreunion.org and provide feedback.

c. Comment 3: When developing the scholarship aspect to the All School Reunion, all excess funds were diverted to the scholarships with the understanding that when startup funds were needed, a formal documented loan would be made and paid back from the proceeds of the reunion.

d. Comment 4: Develop a written budget

e. Comment 5: Move the reunion to coincide with the Fourth of July.

Discussion

f. Establish a budget

g. Have a list of classmates from the 80’s and 90’s that may contact his or her class about attending the reunion.

h. Will hold the reunion on July 6 and 7, 2007. We discussed having a reunion whenever July Fourth fell on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. If we decide to follow this schedule, the next reunion would be held in 2011 when July Fourth falls on Monday. Decision as to next reunion will be made after the 2007 reunion.

i. Concern about the weather over July Fourth was expressed

1. discussed tying the reunion in with the mud bogs so the weather would be better, but the mud bogs are always held on Saturday and could possibly detract from the reunion

2. discussed having the reunion on the first weekend in August, but out of town classmates would possibly not want to make two trips to Troy.

ii. Concern about overextending volunteers

1. decided to start the festivities at 7 p.m. on Friday night with the following agenda:

a. Social Hour 7 p.m.

b. Memorabilia 7 p.m.

c. Pep Rally/Comedy Routines

when" . . . stories 8 p.m.

d. Social Hour until 10 p.m.

e. Snake Dance through bars

f. Street Dance

i. ask local bars to donate to the All School Reunion. If no cooperation, look at other options.

2. Saturday afternoon agenda

a. Horseshoes All Day

b. Flag football game 1 p.m.

c. Basketball game 4 p.m.

d. Tug of War TBD

e. Reunion Olympics TBD

f. Karaoke 8 p.m.

i. It was decided a group of committee members would get together and pick out the songs so the songs would appeal to all generations, i.e., Great Balls of Fire by Jerry Lee Lewis

g. Revamp the All School Reunion Survey and announce the results on Saturday

3. No events planned for Sunday

4. Volunteers needed to sell t-shirts, mugs and beer on Friday and Saturday

a. The mugs will be in the same shape as the 1998 reunion mugs with the school picture from the 2005 reunion mugs

b. Inquire if Coors beer can be served

5. Discussed use of the cookshack on Saturday.

i. Inquire into loan from scholarship committee for front money of t-shirts and mugs

j. Marilyn and Heather McDougall have web browsing abilities and will provide feedback.

k. There are three bathrooms available at new park. Decided there was no need for port-a-potties.

l. Need to get license to sell alcohol
